In the ongoing saga of the record companies vs. you, a new solution has been proposed by a service called lala.com. TechCrunch reports on this new free, legal, on demand streaming music service.
While la la’s concert casts seem more likely to cash in on an untapped market, this is a new and risky venture. A break even at 1 CD per month? Good luck with that.
Now, I don’t pretend to have the answer, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t it. It’s a leap of faith to think that every user is going to buy a CD from you every month. There are too many other options out there: listen, dislike. listen, like, then steal. listen, like, then get from a friend. listen, like, then buy from itunes or amazon since you’re already set up with them.
They should refocus their attention on concert casts. Concert bootlegs always lack quality control….I’m pretty tired of hearing a burp or someone annoyingly singing along in the tracks I find.
