It’s literally starting to sound like a broken record- all we are hearing is how the record industry is screwed. Slumping album sales. Industry layoffs. Established artists complaining about kids stealing music (while they live in mansions and drive Bentleys). With all that, what drives a young artist to pursue a music career nowadays?
I asked some bands, and here’s what I got:
The recording industry is getting dragged through the mud these days with illegal downloading and trading of music stealing it’s usual income. In the olden days record companies probably brought in 50 times as much money as they do today so they have to be a lot more careful where they put their money. For young artists starting out, like us, it means less bands are being signed and more signed bands are being dropped. It’s nothing to get too upset about though. If a band has what it takes and enjoys what they’re doing then I think there’s still a great career available for them in todays music industry.
We all know what most bands are gonna say. It’s not like it used to be, there is nothing original out, bands are getting ripped off. We’ll I’d hate to break it to you but; the music industry was create by ripping artists off. Yes it is like it used to be. So do something original and mold it into what you want it to be! Stop waiting for someone else to do it.
Both surprised and pleased by the productive outlook of both bands.
