I have 2 guest list spots to Monday night’s Butch Walker show at The Independent.
If you’re not familiar with him, this will get you up to speed:
Last November, artist, producer and songwriter Butch Walker who is widely known for writing and producing hit songs for Katy Perry, Pink, Fall Out Boy, Pete Yorn, Bowling For Soup, etc. (he’s been named Producer of the Year by Rolling Stone Magazine) was on an east coast solo tour. He received a call saying that his house had been burned to the ground by the wildfires that were encompassing his southern California neighborhood at the time. Not only did Walker lose everything in his home that belonged to him and his family but he also lost every master recording he’s ever made as an artist and producer – which was nearly 15 years of recordings. The masters included his Top 10 hits. He used the occurrence to inspire his new album – naming it after the street he lived on – Sycamore Meadows. The result, one year later, is a very moving collection of songs that offer a sincere take on this artist’s life and what he felt in the months after the fire. He offers his unmatched production and songwriting ability that many of his industry peers go to him for with lyrics like “I finally know the difference between going back and going home” and “”you can’t lose fire when there’s nothing left to burn”
