Debut of a new piece: Rock for the Soul. Here I will highlight artist’s efforts in social causes.
I think it’s fitting to start with Tom Morello and Serj Tankian’s Axis of Justice organization. The organization was formed after the two witnessed the white power/neo nazi symbols on people in the crowd of Ozzfest 2002 that they were both playing. The organization brings together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations.
They have taken on issues such as Mumia Abul-Jamal- the activist who has controversially been on death row since 1982, for which they completed a rare interview with; they’ve assisted Taco Bell farm workers in their fight to get better wages; and have been supporters of Food Not Bombs.
You can donate to Axis of Justice here.
